Summary: Obama had and affair with Vera Baker during his 2004 Senate Campaign. This is an old story. I can remember reading about it during the 2008 election campaign. For whatever reason, no main stream outlets report it then, but it did light up the blogosphere. Now, the NE has ran with the story. Maybe they have new evidence or maybe they just want to boost sales. Note that is not a right wing hit piece. One of the key owners of the Enquirer is Roger Altman, who is very tight with Clintons. As far as fallout, I don't see much happening politically. This can't be used as a vehicle for impeachment like the Republicans used on Clinton. It shouldn't have any effect on Democrats in the upcoming elections. Obama's next election is too far away for it to be an issue then. Of course, the fallout at home maybe a little harsher. Michelle may be a even angrier than normal. Of course, the story may be completely false, although the NE does have a reputation for getting the adultery scandals right.
