We had the same 4 pump limit. Weird. Seems that trial and error worked the same in our neighborhoods.
We also had horse chestnut fights. (if you are not familiar with them, here is a picture that shows some of the spines on the outside. they are slightly smaller than a baseball, and require good leather gloves to throw with any force. http://museum.gov.ns.ca/poison/chestnut.gif) Hopefully the statute of limitations has run out on my "crimes".
