I took classes in HS like contemporary Russian Society...very interesting class and this was at the height of the Cold War. My teacher used to be a professor of Russian studies at Western Illinois University. Most people who take languages also get "ethnic studies" as part of their language classes since you also have to get immersed in the culture to "really" learn the language. I think this is a bunch of rascist crap. I was flipping through the channels in my hotel room last night and on fox, they had Greta "I look like I am going to bite your head off" Van Sustern (the woman really frightens me) rationalizing away by saying that because the guy that sponsored (The Arizona Secretary of education I beleive...not positive...it was late) also marched to Washington during the 60's and was present at King's Mall speech, he has "street cred" as she put in in civil rights. Fred Phelps was a renowned civil rights lawyer in the 1960's and 70's, but I don;t think that gives him or his hate mongers any "street cred" today.
