Either that or bicker about how to fight back until they just killed us. I've 
always found that to be one of the more unbelievable points of Independence Day 
(not that 'unbelievable points' were lacking in that movie). I think the 
reaction to "The Americans want to launch a counter attack" would be either 
"Are they nuts?" or "Of course they do, stupid Americans" or just plain 
distrust and refusal to cooperate.
