Not necessarily...they can look you up and see if you have a valid license. They can use those some connected computers to look up and see what your immigration status is or if you are a US citizen. I would say a big flag is if your name isn't in the system, then they can say, hey, we need more info. I doubt that a us citizen, or someone that is here legally, would fall under that category.

They don't arrest you, they put your name in the computer and your picture pops up. If not they call immigration and they find a way to confirm your legality.
