In comparison to what? Hamas (who has a tendency to kill any local opposition), The Egyptian army, the Syrian forces, Lybia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia? Go to Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International and look up those organizations. For instance look up the Hama massacre. In comparison the IDF are angels. So Eric when you use the term thugs you do not know what you are talking about. Also lets look at the situation, Israel is a small country surrounded by larger far more populous countries dedicated to the destruction of Israel. This has meant that in order to survive Israel has decided that for every action against it by its enemies it will hit back harder and at many more targets. Its about the only thing that has kept Israel generally safe since they instituted the policy. Remember from 1967 until around 1982 there was a war of attrition between Egypt and Israel in the Sinai. After Israel started that policy the hundreds of small attacks every year by Egypt, Syria, from the Lebanese territories, and Jordan stopped. Its only been groups like Hezbollah and Hamas that have continued their attacks. Its a hard path, but it has kept Israel safe. What do you expect them to do lie down, roll over and wait to die?
