Michael: I totally understand what you're saying. The other day, my sister-in-law was telling her two boys (6 and 10) that if anything ever happens, blah blah, to head to their grandmother's house a mile away. She was in a panic over this whole alert thing.
I don't know HOW the people in Israel cope with the stress on a day-to-day basis _knowing_ that some psycopath is going to stroll into a marketplace, mall, playground, or restaurant with TNT strapped to his waist in an attempt to hurt civilians because "it's his duty in life." Here, the government says to terrorists: "We think we know you're up to something, but it's up to you to guess what we know, so make the first move." This whole handling of pre-9/11 information and the current handling of alerts is really making me sick, and my wife isn't handling it well at all either. Lord forbid I go to work, get caught up in a 9AM meeting, and forget to call her. We're earning gray hairs at a rapid pace -- and we're not even 25 yet! I love my country, but I'm really starting to seriously doubt the capabilities and motives of our government. To me, they're not the ones with their lives on the lines -- our police, firefighters, EMT, military -- they are the ones on the front lines in ANY emergency. Dubya's got a nuclear bunker for his family -- what does the common citizen have? Ugg -- back to coding. -V -----Original Message----- From: Michael Dinowitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, May 21, 2002 4:42 PM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: CNN Breaking News >And WHICH landmarks? NYC is obviously packed with landmarks. I've heard the Brooklyn bridge and the statue of liberty. Personally, I just wish they'd do it already so we can just get it over with. I'm getting really tired of living with the specter of an attack over my head. We wouldn't get really pissed at them (again) till the next attack so just get it over with already. If this was Israel then I'd be ok with it. "Hey, it's Tuesday. there should be an attack in 5 minutes." I just don't need the stress on me or mine. -- Get your free email from www.linuxmail.org Powered by Outblaze ______________________________________________________________________ Your ad could be here.
