I think they are similar problems that flow along a spectrum.  
Particularly manufactured and|or purified drugs where a good deal of 
science and technology is used to modify them to make them ever more 
addictive.  That is probably my biggest concerns with legalizing them 
that even more would be applied.

Food can be addictive.  I think these major food industries work to make 
many products more addictive.  Yes, one Whopper (just to share the blame 
some) is probably not going to hook a person (yet!).  At some level, I'm 
not sure they aren't trying to make it so.

There is just so much behavioral science being applied against us, the 
consumers, by these companies.  I don't think I can completely dismiss 
it with a simple "Individual Responsibility" homily.
