Ok, then, some musical education.

Femi Kuti is Nigerian and the son of Fela Kuti who pretty much
pioneered Afrobeat. He plays a really booty shaking, upbeat music that
combines a lot of the best in funk and traditional African music. He's
played internationally for quite some time and has put out great
collaborations with more well known artists like Mos Def. He and his
band played for about 80,000 at Glastonbury this year.

As for Taj Mahal, well, he is a flat out blues legend. Plays bad ass,
gritty, ass shaking slide guitar. He's played with most everyone over
the last 50 years and really just kicks ass. Perhaps best known for
his song Statesboro Blues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQMU1S8FhKg
