Your issue is actually leaving it plugged in all the time, you are better
off leaving it uncharged and only charge it for short periods, not
overnight.

The phone can charge completely in less then 2 hours so when that completes,
unplug it and let it drain down again so the phone can rebuild a good
charge.

When you getup in the AM, charge the phone, then unplug during day...
