A group called Iowans for Responsible Government recently ran commercials
alleging that Republican candidate for governor Terry Branstad is too
liberal. One commercial imposes Branstad's face on a Mount Rushmore image
along with Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi. It also says
that Branstad "would make Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi
proud."

A separate mailer says "When it comes to health care, Terry Branstad sounds
a lot like Barack Obama."

It's not unusualy for a conservative candidate or special interest group to
call a candidate too liberal. It can be seen in AZ right now.

What makes this case special then? The group Iowans for Responsible
Government was completely funded by The Democratic Governors Association.
Iowans for Responsible Government was headed by Robert Tully, the former
chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party. It spent over 800k in its attempt to
knock Branstad out of his primary battle with Bob Vander Plaats, a tea-party
backed candidate. The effort failed, and to add insult to injury, integrity
challenged 527 was exposed.

The DGA is an organization that tries to help Democratic candidate win
elections. The irony is that Democratic donors were giving money to this
organization to support their candidates, but instead, it was used to attack
Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi.

Just as a six-degree of separation side, The fliers were designed and mailed
by a Chicago organization named the Stratey Group. The Strategy Group was
the Obama Campaign's top mail vendor. The TV ads heavily used Shorr Johnson
Magnus and Harstad Strategic Research, both of which worked on Obama's
campaign.
