Thank God. An encouraging sign. Lock step voting by party (any party) by representatives from such a large country with so many regional differences would be a dangerous thing. It would show partisanship over representing constituents. "I'm in favor of abolishing the fillibuster for votes on anything other than lifetime positions. I said it when the Democrats were threatening the judicial nominations of Bush and I said recently over health care. "Make the people we hire for these positions actually do something. The Senate is horridly dysfunctional." We can agree on that. The addition of Al Franken didn't help anything. "Once upon a time, I was in favor of a 'do nothing' government. Unfortunately, I've learned since then that there is never a government that just lets the status quo be and gives us time to breathe.
