"The man believes in the basis of religious freedoms on which his country was founded, and he and his party believe the Mosque should be built. And he is saying so, he is standing up for what he believes." "Instead of remaining silent , prevaricating or using politically correct speech to weasel out of saying what he really things. Or worse, agreeing with the majority to win votes." "If he were my President, I'd want him to say how he felt, and why."
The whole point of my post was President Obama's timing. Everything seems to be going to hell in a handbasket and then he adds this to it. I can see no incentive for making the statements now as opposed to after the elections or even 6 months ago. Now is an incredibly bad time. Interestingly enough, it wasn't even off the cuff. It wasn't a response answer like the Joe the plumber fiasco. What he has done has put even more Democrats on the defensive for the upcoming elections. Any candidate with a semi-competent campaign manager will immediately ask his opponent if he or she agrees with President Obama. If yes, then you alienate one group. If you say no, you alienate another group. If you flounder, you set your self up for dodging the issue. I know some of you think it's great that he spoke up. It's refreshing, especially considering the lack of openess in this administration and the volume of distortion coming from the White House. I certainly don't mind him stating his opinion and didn't find his stance surprising. I just believe there are a lot of democrats running for office going "WTF?" and a lot of republicans are going "Thank you God". Sometimes silence is a virtue. J - Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. - Abraham Lincoln ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:324992 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
