"In his view putting forward all that effort to catch some kids who's crime
was a scheme to try to eat, was reprehensible."

The restaurants goal was not to stop the kids from eating. The restaurants
goal was to stop people in general from ripping them off. You know,
STEALING from them. It wasn't some sting operation aimed just at the
college students. They wanted to protect their business, their property,
their right to make a living. Saul Alinsky called them bastards for wanting
to protect their stuff. He called himself and his friends victims because
they no longer got a free ride, but had to do like normal customers and
pay. That makes him a creep.

Maybe an analogy:

Suppose a group of people who could not afford broadband found a way to
connect to your wireless network. Likewise, assume that your broadband has
an overage charge. It's never been a big issue for your family alone, but
now, with a new group using your service, you are paying overage charges
every month. Knowing something is wrong, you implement a new security
protocol for your wireless network. These new measures stop the group from
using your wireless network and your overage charges go away. Would you be
a bastard and would the group of broadband leaches be victims?

"I think your threshold for calling someone a creep is very, very low."

You're perfectly entitled to think so. That's what I love about our
country.
