There *are* laws against politicians like that, hence why they've been
charged with violating laws. I wish they were more vigorously pursued
though and earlier on. It seems to take years, if not longer, between
when a pretty full fledged scandal hits and when things actually wind
their way through Congress.

I still wish that there had been a proper investigation of Murtha. I
have the feeling that that could have uncovered a rather nasty, deep
morass of kickbacks between Congress and the major defense
contractors.
