whenever I've gone hiking in the Rockies I've had an old coffee can hooked to my pack. The can had some rocks in it so it rattled. thing is though, it works with black bears but may not work with grizzlies. Also the bear spray sold in the U.S. in not legal in Canada. You can buy a less potent variety in Canada.
