Except unlike American football, there is no long stretches of utter boredom watching skinny dudes run around on "the pitch" passing a round ball with only their feet. We like sports that have explosiveness, potential for scoring in every play, and violence interjected everywhere. Yee-haw! :)

If the Americans had never named their sport football, a sport that hardly ever involves feet touching a ball, this stupid comparison would never ever be made and we could all get along.
