There is at least one economic theory claiming that deficit spending is necessary - that is better to "saddle the next generation with debt" than to allow the economy or political structure to collapse. I'm more of a fiscal conservative than that. I hate deficits, especially when they are created solely to enhance the wealth of the greedy. The problem have with those currently yelling about deficits and demanding cuts is that they will never define what they want cut, beyond harping about a few poorly defined earmarks that amount to trivial expenses, like McCain's list of bad stimulus projects. Deficits in the trillions and he's bitching about an 87 thousand dollar project. It probably cost more than 87K for him and his staff of researchers to produce the list in the first place.
