The woman who owned it fled Paris right before WWII and never went back but the rent on the place was paid faithfully, so it sat undisturbed for 70 years until the owner recently died and executors of her estate went in to see what was there. Amongst other things, they found a previously (largely) unknown famous painting that sold at auction for 2.1 million euros.
