Ideally, but that would require a system that actually worked that
way. If we could have mandatory candidate questionnaires that then got
given out to all the voters and we could easily fire an elected
official based off of lies/omissions/etc on the survey, then yeah,
that might work.

As it is, I think that the job interview metaphor doesn't really hold.
I think it is more of a sales job. As a voter, I'm putting out an RFP
and then meeting with salesfolks and part of that process is not only
learning what the sales people have to say about their product but
also what they have to say about competing products.

In general, I'm more inclined to buy from a sales dude/dudette who
emphasizes how awesome their product is, but I'm going to listen when
they point out that their product does X that I was interested in in
my RFP and the competitor product doesn't do X.
