Mom was injured at the nursing home so we want to find a better place for her. We hope to be able to find someone who can stay with her in her own home.
This is the ad we are running to find a companion. Please pass this on to anyone you think might be suitable and interested. Looking for one very special man or woman to help allow my Mom to spend her final years in a home setting surrounding by a caring person and a companion pet. Mom has moderate to severe dementia, but can walk and do many things on her own. You will receive free housing, utilities, food and expense money. You MUST love and understand old folks. You MUST be able to physically assist Mom getting in and out of the shower. You MUST love animals. You must understand and know how to manage dementia symptoms OR be willing to have training. Mom is usually very friendly and talkative, but due to her dementia, she can become combative and you must be able to cope with these symptoms. Additional supports and community services will be provided so that the companion will get several hours off each weekday and most weekends off. The companion will make sure Mom has someone with her during the late evening hours and overnight in case she awakens. You also would be responsible for getting her up in the mornings, providing breakfast and getting her ready for adult day care. Family lives nearby and will be available in case of emergencies. You also could have another job during the hours Mom is in adult day care or when her aid is with her in the home. You would assist in selecting the rental home where Mom will live and help her adopt a dog. You must provide a work history that demonstrates your capacity to be an in-home companion. Prior experience in a nursing home, assisted living facility or other jobs with senior citizens preferred.
