It really depends on the situation.  For someone who does part time
from home without a lot of deductible expenses the standard deduction
may be a better value.  If you have a lot of other deductible expenses
and you're itemizing deductions anyway, it may be worth the extra few
minutes to review the rules, see if you qualify, and do a little but
of math to see how much you can add to that list, even if it's just a
little bit.  If you're looking to the home office deduction as the
reason to itemize, then you may be better off with the standard
deduction instead.  It all depends on the situation.
