When Lords of Finance: 21st Century is written, Greenspan will be one of the stars. Interestingly Raghuram G. Rajan tell a great story from 2005 (from Fault Lines - read it!): At the big global central banker confab in Jackson Hole, he presented his paper which basically said the economy was going to meltdown. Everybody laughed at him and chided him for questioning Greenspan the Great.
