It's been done in the sense that humans feel safe in cliques and Obama
is an easy target as an outsider: sort of black, weird up bringing in
Hawaii, spent time in strange lands around strange religions, etc.

And that's why 50% of Republicans believe he's not a citizen, because
demonizing your opponent is easier that winning the war of ideas.

Calling him a socialist Muslim non-citizen is easier and more
actionable than saying he's a smart guy that has a tough time making
decisions. The latter description makes him more human.

All of that said, academically there are interesting questions about
his birth certificate. Those questions are not unique to him, but
then other people are not the president so maybe it does deserve a bit
more scrutiny.

Further, the whole long-form debate seems to one of faith: there are
people who've seen it, we have a short-form copy etc etc. but the
long-form has specifically not been granted for release.

Factually, the State of Hawaii says he's a citizen and so it is and
should be case closed, but the long-form questions remain a matter of
faith and that's odd. Obama could easily end it by releasing it even
though he doesn't have too.

And so I don't think Mr. Trump is wrong to ask the questions, of
course the problem is that he's taken it too far. The preponderance
of evidence is in, the State of HI has ruled, and that should be
Trump's position: open questions, but an official ruling.
