This reporter puts the entire Birther movement in the context of
America's racist past where a black man could either show his papers,
or be represented by a white man, or he had no rights.

The question about "show me your papers" ties right back to those
times, and the older people supporting the birther movement definitely
have a very clear recollection of that era, and would themselves know
what it means.

The request by Trump to have the President of the United States show
his University papers implies that he was the beneficiary of
Affirmative Action- that is he took the place of a White student.
This in spite of the fact that the President of the United States
graduated magna cum laude, and that he was named the Editor of the
Harvard Review, the highest honor that institution can grant a
student.

And while the immediate reaction to any display of racism in the US,
is that it is blown out of proportion and is not an issue, you really
should watch the video before hardening a position.
