"Care to elaborate?" Depends of who and how you're taxing and the size of the cuts I suspect.
Just like the "savings" that will come from Obamacare, a lot of the recent "cuts" were accounting tricks. More of the same is cutting in words only. Taxing just for the sake of taxing won't help solve any problems and may lead to bigger problems (read about Herbert Hoover's Keynsian approach to ending the great depression). Both need to be done in an appropriate manner. In a manner that encourages consumer confidence and confidence in the federal government. We'll more than likely differ in opinion here. I don't think President Obama's administration is cable of or willing to making the correct decisions. How can I when President Obama is arguing that SS doesn't contribute to current debt and should be handled separately? It might be a good argument if it were in a "lock box". But it's not.
