The concept of Kosher has to do with the types of foods allowable and how it
is prepared 'pre-consumer'. How an animal is killed and what is done to it
before it can be ready for preparation. The hand washing I was talking about
were ritual ones embedded in the religion. Washing before/while preparing
food is, as far as I know, not. But I can easily be wrong and should look
it up to be sure. It could easily be something that it so simple that we
forget it's required. The hand washing I mentioned before are all
accompanied by a prayer of some sort. Makes it easier to pay attention to
them. (and before you ask, the prayer after going to the bathroom is a
thanks that the body works in the proper ways, etc.)

I've heard differently about women's food cravings. Something along the
lines of the body knowing it needs nutrient X and trying to find it. How
true it is can (and has been) debated.
