My argument was simply that it's foolhardy to say that old people are destroying our environment because they use phone books, when it's new technology manufacturing that has a much larger negative impact on the environment. Further to that, it's our acceptance of planned obsolescence and disposable convenience that's reeking much more havoc on our planet.
