All money paid by the government comes from tax revenue, whether it is
the prebate proposed by the Fair Tax folks, to the let me buy your
vote tax refund that both Bush and Obama send out.

As for being annoytedI find it impossible to discuss any issue with
people who dismiss the suggestions out of hand because it doesn't
sound like something they would like, or because they heard somewhere
that it might maybe possibly would cause some distress to some poor
little underprivileged whatever but can't be bothered to investigate
the facts.

Regressive?  And what we have now isn't?

This country was founded on no taxation without representation, not no
representation without taxation. I don't frigging remember signing up
to support the whole damn world.
