i'm actually looking for a way in which I can change all caps in text to
lowercase.
so there isn't anything for me to do a replace on unless I do character by
character.. or am I missing the point?

In Word, click the "More Options" button on the replace dialog, then
click Match Case

In Studio, click Match Case in the replace dialog

In WordPad, click Match Case in the replace dialog

In NotePad, click Match Case in the replace dialog

Or am I over-simplifying things?
