Maureen, Kudos for individual responsibility and pride. I feel I can cast a stone as well. I came from a poor background. We never received welfare. I got scholarships and loans to go to college. I have been married for 14+ years with no illegitimate children or infidelity to my record. My wife and I have three kids that we support without government assistance. Anyway, while you don't like the article, I'll tell you why I found it fascinating. It deals with the rioting in the UK. The austerity measures are threatening the free loaders. The free loaders are up in arms about their meal ticket collapsing. They are afraid that they might have to do something for themselves. While you might not see the correlation, I think it is obvious. As an aside, while there is no "rioting" here in the US, there seems to be plenty of violent flash-mob activity and union violence going on. Be prepared.
