Since I always get what I want (or not, but I can dream, can't I?), I would
hop in the car and go get myself some more milk. Around here traffic isn't
so bad in the morning, and there's two shopping centers within 1.5 miles I
can go to, as well as a 24hr gas station if the regular store is closed.

I don't know if you have that option in your situation, but that's what I'd
do anyway.
