Very interesting article by Buchanan. Any comments on it? In general, I think he is on target about terrorism being the result of imperialism, or us simply 'being over there', but at the same time, I don't think it's quite so cut and dry. Ie, I don't we should simply pull ourselves away from every country we are in. As it stands, we would not be in Saudi Arabia if the govt didn't want us to. We are not occupying the country. If some people don't like that (the terrorists), I don't think we should simply walk away. On the other hand - I don't think Buchanan is saying we should be wimps about it - but just consider if its worth it. I've said this before (after 9/11) - we may have the right to do something - but if we don't like the reaction - maybe we should consider _not_ doing it. Ie, maybe we shouldn't let terorists kick us out of Saudi Arabia - but we should also ask ourselves if it's worth the trouble. I'm sure this is a question people in Israel ask themselves as well. (I'm not saying it _isn't_ worth it for them - but I'm sure it's own their minds.) -rc ______________________________________________________________________ Your ad could be here.
