The eardrum stabbing is more about content than volume. I've been
doing sound professionally for over 30 years. Hard to wear earplugs
when you have to either monitor or edit. Right now I'm working on
post-production sound for a movie with a film score that someone else
wrote, and it is absolutely the worse crock of crap ever - and after a
week of editing, I have all the songs stuck in my head, including a
really nasty little diddy about hymen repair. Ouch. I will be more
than glad to done with this one and hope to never have to listen to
again once I have sound lock.
