Last year, mid October, I heard an odd sound outside and walked out
the front porch to notice a Tom and a Hen wandering down the sidewalk.
I recognized them as being escapees from the neighbor around the
corner. I have plenty of experience with chickens but wasn't quite
sure that the same approach would work with turkeys which are really
quite large when they get in your face.

Ended up grabbing the (smaller) hen by the feet and turning her upside
down (turns out they go docile like chickens do, thank goodness) and
got a couple neighbors to help herd the tom back to his domicile.

I love the "urban" nature of close in Portland.
