BoA and First Union are dumping employees .. the easiest and fastest way 
to reduce expenses.  They are still hiring, but mostly for positions 
vacated by people they let go because said persons were not providing 
results as measured by the budgets the companies have set.  They are 
also being *extremely* picky about who they hire as replacements.

A regional manager for BoA was telling my accounting professor how they 
recently advertised a job and got over 500 resumes.  The manager picked 
32 to interview.  8 of those were called back for a second interview. 
Of those lucky 8, they hired ... none.
