I agree with your assessment of WordPress, however last year I had a "wonderful" time having to fix over 15 different installs of WordPress (which I had nothing to do with) as a result of some exploitation by a group of hackers. I'm no expert in WordPress, and it may not have been the product itself because they all had a common issue. They were all hosted at GoDaddy (nuf said IMO). Although they denied it was their issue, they gave us a script to execute to clean out the PHP files which effected every file in every account on the server, not just the WordPress Install.
And I know they worked directly with the developers of WordPress to "fix" the problem. Haven't heard anything since, but then again, we no longer host anything on GoDaddy.
