I have all bounces for our email servers forward to me - I do this to keep an eye out for message sent to former employees and also to be proactive in helping the "my email didn't go through" complaints internally.
Every now an again I see a sequence of bounced emails going back to the same outside sender with the same subject and every time the person is trying to guess our email addressing scheme. For example, the business owner's name is on the website but not his email address. We'll say it's John Smith. So the sender tries sending the message to: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Is there a name for this tom-foolery and can I report domains for it?
