There is no denying the reality of his growing popularity, though a Paul
nomination is still very much a longshot. Even if he won the Presidency,
many of his views would simply not translate into policy without a Congress
willing to enact his ideas. I think it's more likely that he becomes a
significant player for the rest of the primary and at the convention by
pushing the other candidates toward libertarian ideas.

Whatever happens, Paul's campaign has no debt, his money bombs keep rolling
in the donations, and his intellectually consistent arguments attract
people who are tired of the same old same old from the political
establishment. He will be at the convention as a candidate, which is more
than can be said for much of the rest of the field. At this point, it looks
like only Paul and Romney will have the money to slog through the winter
and spring, unless another candidate pulls out a big victory in one of the
early primaries. All of which points toward Romney as the candidate and
Paul as a potential spoiler in the general election.
