Southern racism is much more blatant. Northern racism is very subtle and underhanded. Having experienced both (growing up the Chicago suburbs ad having lived in SW Louisiana for 8 years)...I can attest to the difference. I would also say that racism is still more prevalent in the south than it is in the north. Most of the racism in the north comes from rural areas and is less prevalent in urban areas...from my experience anyhow...
