Yes.  Anything you can to keep any kind of insurance.  My last ER visit 
turned out to be for nothing.  They didn't do anything but observe me 
for a couple of hours while the labs were being done.  The bill was 
about $1,800 ... $40 of that was for some aspirin =-/

My grandmother had survivor benefits and some help from the VA.  She 
also had Medicare/Medicaid and a supplemental policy through Aflac. 
Aflac paid for almost all of what the others didn't cover.  I am not 
sure how a supplemental works with preexisting conditions, but one of 
those might be worth looking into.

Like others said, check with the VA.  They deal with this all the time. 
  They found something my grandmother qualified for that we didn't know 
about.  It was $100 extra a month.  Not a lot, but every little bit 
helps.  Just make sure you stay on top of them.  They need some prodding 
sometimes.

Get her enrolled back in school half time.  Then she can get that lovely 
student insurance ;)
