It gets better. I had wondered when the reich wing whinging would
begin. It did not take more than a couple of hours. I wish these
people would own up and take responsibility instead of blaming
everything else but their own behavior:

Handel: PP 'vicious attacks, coercion'

Karen Handel, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure official who resigned
Tuesday, accused Planned Parenthood of “vicious attacks and coercion”
against her.

“Last time I checked, private nonprofit organizations have a right and
a responsibility to be able to set the highest standards and criteria
on their own without interference, let alone the level of vicious
attacks and coercion that has occurred by Planned Parenthood. It’s
simply outrageous,” Handel a former Georgia Republican governor
candidate who joined the breast cancer organization in 2011 as a vice
president of public policy, told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly.

Handel also addressed her role in the controversial and
since-rescinded decision by Komen to yank funding from Planned
Parenthood, saying that “I clearly acknowledge that I was involved in
the process, but to suggest that I had the sole authority is just
absurd.”

She said Komen’s questioning of funding Planned Parenthood had existed
long before she came to the breast cancer organization.

“I think everyone can agree if you have a grantee where there is this
type of controversy surrounding it, Komen was doing its level best to
move to neutral ground. And I will say, I was asked to look at options
for doing that, some alternatives for doing that. I was asked to do
it, I looked at it and I did,” she added.

Calling Komen a “great organization,” Handel said she decided to step
down once she became the focus of the controversy.

“I resigned because it was clear that all of this had gotten to a
point where it was ratcheted too high,” she said. “I was too much of a
focal point.”

During the interview, Handel pushed back against those that said she
wanted to use her post at Komen to push her own political agenda.
Komen hired Handel after she made an unsuccessful bid for governor on
a platform that included opposition to abortion and defunding Planned
Parenthood.

“For Komen, for myself, the mission was always foremost in everyone’s
mind. The mission and the women that we serve. The only group that
made this issue political has been Planned Parenthood,” she said.

Handel said she declined a severance package from Komen because she
“wanted to do the right thing on my own terms.”

“Look, this is a nonprofit and I’m very much aware of that,” she said.
“I was doing my job, Megyn, and I wasn’t interested in having a
paycheck or a written check for myself to just simply go away. I
wanted to do the right thing on my own terms.”

Handel was pegged by activists as responsible for the decision to cut
off grants to Planned Parenthood and wrote in her resignation letter,
“I openly acknowledge my role in the matter and continue to believe
our decision was the best one for Komen’s future and the women we
serve.”

Last week on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Komen founder and CEO
Nancy Brinker denied the suggestion that Handel had played an
significant role in the controversial decision.

“This was decided at the board level and also by our mission, Andrea.
Everything that we get up and do every day is about the mission, to
provide women, vulnerable populations, with care, treatment and
screening,” she said. “We are not defunding Planned Parenthood.”

 ----------------------------

Funny part of the 3rd last paragraph was that multiple people within
the foundation independently said that Handel was behind the effort to
defund Planned Parenthood.
