How serious are these crimes in the UK? Does anyone know? Is breaking into
someone's voice mail or looking at their text messages a crime in the UK,
and if so what are the penalties? Is it just a Privacy and a civic
responsibility and ethics issue?

I know that there were allegations of payments to police as well, and of
course one could see an issue there, but could a good lawyer explain a
relationship like this between a journalist and a trusted police source?

It seems quite wrong to me, but that doesn't seem to mean it's legally
wrong :-)

I also read that while Murdoch closed one Newspaper, he opened another
right after to take its place lol!
