Neither of which will find that baggie of drugs shoved into your bodily
cavities.  Smuggling drugs into the jails is a HUGE problem that the jails
constantly have to contend with.

If the rules worked that way, then the drug mules would make sure they got
arrested for one of the "non-strip" charges so they could get their
contraband through undetected.

I totally get the point of your argument, and I actually agree with you that
it's not a good thing that these kinds of policies have become necessary.
Unfortunately, the bad actors in our society have gamed the system to the
point where these kinds of blanket policies are the best defense they've
come up with so far.
