for what it is worth I have a somewhat favorable opinion of Gary Johnson. He was already out of office by the time I moved to New Mexico, so most of what I know is second-hand from old-family Hispanics who were somewhat bemused by him. However, a) he changed the laws on homeschooling to something that made a lot of sense from all points of view b) he is an avid outdoorsman and, I'm thinking, has a good record on the environment c) he is on record as favoring legalization of marijuana and d) probably most important from your point of view, had a reputation as a small-government libertarian.
When I say bemused --New Mexico has a strange mix of cultures -- I gather he was sort of halfway between Taos hippie and cut-my-taxes defense contractor engineer. Some of the more conservative hispanic or native american groups might have named him governor moonbeam if the name hadn't already been taken. If you're going to cast a protest vote you could do a lot worse imho On Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 1:15 PM, LRS Scout <[email protected]> wrote: > > Ok, so whats the solution? > > I think Ron Paul or Gary Johnson, and I'm sure you would disagree, right? > > Not that either of them will likely be on my ballot, so I will likely write > in a candidate. > > On Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 4:04 PM, Eric Roberts < > [email protected]> wrote: > >> >> I would agree with Maureen...if you are not part of the solution...you are >> part of the problem... >> >> >> >> On Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 3:00 PM, Maureen <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> > >> > And I repeat, even thought I am sure it is a waste of time, all of >> > those candidates have supporters and contributors in your group of >> > "decent people".
