If you read the article, it's really about how Apple's margins are large in part because they make money off both the hardware and the software and those margins are much bigger than Microsoft's. Today Microsoft makes up for that in volume, but that will change is tablets and other devices start to overtake laptops. This is why it's critical for Microsoft to be in the tablet and devices space.
