He also said that his beliefs didn't get in the way of the fact that he supports gay marriage. Obama realizes, unlike 90% of the republican party, that they govern a diverse country that has many different beliefs and varying beliefs even in the same faith. He realizes that he has to represent homosexual citizens just as much as he represents heterosexual one. Notice, he has always been supportive of gay rights from the beginning....hence the first part of the sentence. That is one of the many reason why I voted for him....even though his faith says it's wrong, he knows he has to do things that don't necessarily align with his beliefs in order to properly govern this country.
