I heard about that on NPR. You were in that? That's kinda cool. One of the
points the NPR story made was that mobile computing has made it much easier
to carry the Talmud around so that you have it for your reading group, but
mobile wasn't so prevalent back when that started so I don't know how valid
that is as a surmise.
