Not according to the dictionary. From Dictionary.com:

1. any ideology or movement inspired by Italian Fascism, such as German
National Socialism; any right-wing nationalist ideology or movement with an
authoritarian and hierarchical structure that is fundamentally opposed to
democracy and liberalism 2. any ideology, movement, programme, tendency,
etc, that may be characterized as right-wing, chauvinist, authoritarian, etc

"right wing national ideology"...."opposed to democracy and liberalism".

Fascism is conservatism stripped of it's good qualities, leaving only the
ugly side. When either a right or a left ideology goes to such an extreme,
it's difficult to really call it "right or left" anymore. Socialism starts
out as a left idea, but when it comes to it's ultimate corrupted end, you
get someone like Chavez.....and at that point, who cares if he started out
as left or right..he's an all controlling dictator, and everyone suffers.
Chavez, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Idi Amin...they all used whatever ideology
was best suited to get them what they really wanted: Power.

So i don't see why conservatives should feel the need to become defensive
about Fascism as a "right wing extremism"....fascism does not impugn
conservatism, just as socialism does not impugn liberalism.
