The German Imperial Army was not defeated? I really don't know what history you read but its sadly lacking in what happened.
First off start here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundred_Days_Offensive This isn't a bad summary of what happened in the last 3 months of WW1. But in essence the result of this offensive was that the German Army was defeated in multiple battles and retreated in disarray well past the Hindenburg Line.
